I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Using MergeTool
MergeTool allows us to compare our customized application code with the old standard application code and merge the customizations with the new standard application code thus creating new, customized application code.
Follow the steps explained in the Upgrade steps in detail section and then perform these steps:
- Get the object's version to get the OldBase.txt, OldCustom.txt, and NewBase.txt files
- Open your Microsoft Dynamics NAV MergeTool database
- Open the MergeTool menu by navigating to Departments | MergeTool
In this menu, you will find everything that can be done with MergeTool. We will start by importing the old base version of our current Microsoft Dynamics NAV database (that is, the OldBase.txt file).
