I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Using XMLports to migrate data
An XMLport is a Microsoft Dynamics NAV and Dynamics 365 Business Central object type; it's an object or can be declared as a data type (an instance of the object) used to import and export data encapsulated in XML format. Fixed text and variable text formats are also available on an XMLport to import and export data from a plain text file.
XMLports can be developed by the internal designer; you can also develop XMLports using AL language and these can be used in the online version of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
XMLport Designer can be found in Object Designer, as shown in the following screenshot:
