Identify the key user
The first thing to do is define the key user of the process (they could also be your sponsor). The key user will be responsible for the whole process and will respond to management. Then, the key user exposes themselves to risks, without being able to know the outcome of the project. Sometimes (in small companies), there are no key users. In that case, it is necessary to understand which of the company management or delegates will follow the process; sometimes, an external consultant is hired just to follow a client-side project (for example, with a temporary management contract).
