The challenge is usually not which technique to use but the way in which the
technique should applied. Because all of the data mining techniques require
some form of parameter selection, this then requires experience of how the
techniques work and what the various parameters do. In the examples given in
the following chapters, we describe some of the parameters that need to be
defined and how this can be done.
