I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

| Troubleshooting the Active Directory Installation Wizard really comes in two flavors. I have almost never had a server refuse to create a new forest—for the simple reason that if you have enough memory, disk space, and a good implementation of Windows 2000, not much can go wrong because you are creating almost everything from scratch on the local computer (unless this is an upgrade from an NT domain).
Generally, when I have had problems with dcpromo, it is in creating a child domain, replica server, or new tree. These generally croak because of two things: name resolution and permissions. |
