It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Why Use BIND?
The reasons why a company would choose to use a non–Windows 2000 DNS to support the AD are several. Some companies already have a DNS infrastructure in place and do not want to change it. The company already might have a high level of BIND DNS expertise in-house and wants to exploit that advantage. Whatever the reason, in this section, you look at configuring an existing DNS on a Linux server using BIND 8.1.2. Although you can convert a DNS that has been supporting Active Directory from BIND to Windows 2000 DNS, beginning your AD with the DNS you plan to use already in place is easier.
