I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Name Resolution in Windows 2000
Similar to previous versions of NT, Windows 2000 can use a variety of name resolution methodologies. Broadcast, lmhosts, and WINS can be used to find file and print servers, application servers, and so on. These tools, although unnecessary in a NetBIOS-free 2000 environment, provide compatibility with and access to down-level clients. Under limited conditions, you can find a Windows 2000 DC from a Windows 2000 client by using non-DNS name resolution. We must be very clear, however, that although these tools provide down-level name resolution services and limited access to the Windows 2000 domain controllers (DCs), an Active Directory can never be considered fully configured until DNS is in place and properly configured. ...
