Proper management of group policy can make administering a Windows 2000 domain much easier and can really enable your users to benefit from many of the enhancements in Windows 2000.
Group policy is one of the most powerful tools in the Active Directory toolbox, but as such, it should be implemented only after very careful testing. Group policy in itself is not dangerous, but because it allows such sweeping changes to be made to 1 user or 1,000 users with the same amount of effort, caution should be exercised when implementing it in a production environment.
