The two main areas in group policy are user and computer. This is not to say that they are different group policies; indeed, every group policy has a user and a computer section.
The computer portion of a group policy modifies the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE (HKLM) subtree of the Registry of the machine on which it is applied. This section can be seen in Figure 20.6, which is a snapshot of the Default Domain Controllers group policy. This group policy is automatically created when you install the Active Directory and is applied to every DC in the domain.
