Can't Modify the Schema
Q1: | When you open the AD schema tool and try to make any modification or extension to the schema, the options are grayed out or don't work. |
This is generally due to one of two things, or both. First, make sure you are logged on as a member of the Schema Admins group. Then, make sure that the schema has been marked for modification.

Unavailable OM
Q1: | You can't connect to the schema Operations Master. |
If the schema Operations Master is temporarily unavailable, you can fix the network problem or wait for it to come back online. If it is permanently unavailable, you will need to seize the Operations Master role.
