So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Summary
BIND has been around for more than a decade and is one of the most widely used implementations of DNS. It is present in most large companies and will support Active Directory if managed carefully.
The current version supports both SRV records and dynamic updates—the two most critical needs for a DNS to support Active Directory. If you have an investment in BIND, you might want to maintain the current implementation. Remember that a DNS that supports AD must support SRV records and should support dynamic updates.
The minimum recommended version of BIND to work with Active Directory is BIND 8.1.2. As of this writing, the newest release is 8.2.2. Integrating BIND and Active Directory requires a fair amount of expertise but is very manageable. ...
