So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Summary
The only absolute prerequisite for a DNS installation to support the Active Directory is that it support SRV records. However, most users will find it difficult to imagine going back to manually managing DNS zone files after using dynamic updates. Dynamic DNS makes most of the manual support of zones unnecessary, and AD DNS goes one level higher with advanced replication and security on zones and records.
Care must be taken, however, when removing AD zones because removing them improperly can cause the zones to be removed from all Active Directory DNS servers.
Windows 2000 DNS is dynamic. This enables the computer to update its A and PTR records automatically rather than requiring manual intervention.
