So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Schema Location
The Active Directory schema is initially defined at the installation of the first DC in the enterprise. The actual schema is initially defined in NTDS.dit. This file is used during the dcpromo process for the creation of the directory. The schema.ini file contains the information to create the default objects in the directory as well as information about security and Active Directory display specifiers.
The directory is installed by default to the %SystemRoot%\NTDS directory. This can be changed during the installation of each DC and is covered in detail in Chapter 2, "Installing Active Directory"
