Remember the yacht on international waters? Even if your budget is not that big, but not super tight either, you can run both lab and remote testing. However, why would you combine? Why not just maximize the number of remote tests and live a happy and easy life. It would mean much less administration, setup, and obviously much less time investment.
The main reason why I run both for larger projects is to reap the benefits of both solutions. In a lab, I can interview the users, ask questions, and see their facial expressions and hand movements.
