Now, I will show you how to create a hexagon map using Adobe Illustrator in greater detail. After the process of creating the hexagons, the process is similar in Inkscape and Adobe Illustrator. The tricky bit in is creating an editable hexagon pattern. This was handled by the Hex Map Extension in Inkscape, but in Illustrator we will do it manually.
We will start with a single hexagon, which can be drawn using the Polygon tool, by clicking on the canvas. To make spacing calculations simpler, I usually draw a polygon with 100 px radius. Later, we can resize the finished map, but in this stage, 100 px is a good starting point.
