Step 2 - form the issue trees
Now that we have listed all issues we know of, we need to arrange the issues into one or more issue trees. We want to build cause-effect trees from our issues. If you are familiar with data structures, we want to create a forest of directed rooted trees. We want multiple directed graphs in which any two vertices are connected by exactly one path. Don't worry, if you are not a big fan of graph theory, I will explain how to create the trees in a minute.
You can start with any issue from the previous step. An issue alone is arranged. The rest of the issues are considered unarranged. Then, we ask why? If we find another issue that is the cause of our targeted issue, we add that to the map. We place this newly found ...
