Deciding what to test

Testing your ideas with users helps you to improve your ideas. In order to test these ideas, you will need something to be tested. Fortunately, you don't need to have a complete product to be able to test your ideas. At any point of the development process, you should have something valuable to test and learn from. For example, you can test the following:

  • Existing products: You can test previous versions of your product if they exist, or even similar products from your competitors. This is an opportunity to learn more about your users, and better understand how previous ideas worked at a very low cost--since these products already exist.
