Defining the goals

Although you may consider that your ultimate goal is to check whether your ideas work, having more specific goals will be helpful. There are many different aspects that contribute to a good user experience, depending on the nature of your solution you may want to focus on differing goals.

Defining what you want to obtain from the test allows you to define a more focused testing process with more chances to provide a clear response.

These are some aspects you may be interested in evaluating:

  • Visual hierarchy: Do users understand the relationship among the different pieces of information provided?
  • Navigation: Can users orient through the different parts of the application?
