When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Modern outlook
As the technology grew, we started collapsing the user and storage networks. This is done by using protocols such as FCoE and iSCSI. We also started collapsing the NAS and SAN, by ensuring the SAN controllers also have the ability to serve the NAS protocols.
The SAN controllers also started managing multiple types of disk and intelligently saving/accessing data on various storage depending upon the access frequency of that data. This is called storage tiering.
As we moved to software defined storage, the storage appliances also started allowing IOPS control programmatically and this, in addition to the storage tiering, made the storage system be defined programmatically.
So, now one could create a LUN and set the policies ...
