One of the last steps in an attack that an attacker performs is setting up a backdoor, so that the attacker can be connected and also to cover their tracks. In order to prevent this from happening, logging everything centrally and allowing the logs to be searchable and made available for analytics is absolutely necessary. Systems such as Splunk, Graylog, ELK stack, and even Grafana (that we saw in the previous chapter) help us to do this.
