The second function that the storage gateway functions with is the volume gateway. In this we also have two types:
The primary difference between the two is, in the cached mode, the disks are completely written in S3 and only the cache is maintained locally. However in stored volume gateways, the amount of disk that is given to the storage gateway appliance is your maximum storage that can be exposed, as that is the primary storage, and S3 simply creates a volume snapshot.
