I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
How does DNS work?
The DNS system, on the most simplest levels, consists of a database that contains different kinds of associations. These associations are called DNS records.
There are several types of DNS records, some of which are mentioned in the following (there are several others out there, but the list should be enough to help us understand):
- A record: Association between host name and IPv4 address
- MX record: Association between domain name and the IP address of its SMTP server
- CNAME record: Association between a name and another name
- PTR record: Reverse association - IP address to hostname
- NS record: Association between the domain name and the IP address of its DNS server
