Performance monitoring
Performance monitoring is also done in the poll model, but this one generally needs an agent. It could be a standard SNMP agent or the monitoring servers agent. At the infrastructure level, performance monitoring is done to get information about CPU, memory, network utilization, and so on, and in the case of applications, several parameters such as heap size and number of connections are of interest.
Do remember that the protocols themselves don't create graphs, but the monitoring system receiving the information internally stores it in a time series database and allows for the alerts to be triggered if there are thresholds breached.
