I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Choosing the deployment method
Once the distribution is chosen, we move on to the deployment method. The most popular, automated deployment methods are as follows:
- Red Hat OpenStack: RDO Deployment, OSA (OpenStack Ansible)
- Ubuntu: MaaS (Metal as a Service) and Juju
- VIO: VMware vSphere
- Mirantis OpenStack: Fuel
We can also build the OpenStack environment manually. However, in the future, more and more people will be putting their control layer of OpenStack into containers, and for that you may be able to use Kolla or Stackanetes.
For a production OpenStack environment, we now need to design the following:
- Network
- Storage
- Compute
- Configuration
