1.6 First Statistical Analyses
The file named DETERGENT.MTW contains in column C1 the weight (in grams) of 500 packages of washing powder whose nominal weight is 4 kg. Column C2 indicates which of the two available filling lines was used.
To study the distribution of the variable weight stratified by the categorical variable filling line, do the following:
Stat > Basic Statistics > Display Descriptive Statistics
Recall that if you double-click on a variable's name (in the variable list box on the left), this variable will be automatically moved into the box where the cursor is. You may also click just once on the variable's name and then click on Select.
Without changing the default options, the following output will appear in the Session window:
Clicking on Statistics opens the following dialog box displaying a range of possible statistics to be computed. The statistics chosen by default are the ones with a checkmark.
