It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Using default options, the usual appearance of a boxplot is: a box delimiting the interquartile range (IQR) with interior line indicating the median, whiskers as far as the last observation within the region delimited by the quartiles +1.5 IQR and values located further away from this region identified by asterisks.
