As a matter a fact, we have a solution. In fact, we have more than one. They are all based on one general idea. We do have access to things we know the location of and that stay in their place all the time--our walls, floors, and ceilings. So why do we not use these? Well, we will!

If we express the position of the local coordinate systems in relation to the actual physical objects around it, they tend to be fairly stable.
