We want the user to believe all holograms are real. Although the user will know it is all fake, we want to have as much of an immersive experience as we can get. We do this by having objects behave in the same way they do in real life. One of the things objects do in the real world is make noise. So, if we move a hologram from one side of the room to the other, but somewhere along the path it hits another item (real or not), the user expects a sound to be heard. After all, that is what happens in the real world. By providing this kind of auditory feedback, the user will feel more immersed.
