Augmented reality
Augmented reality is on the other side of the spectrum: it does not replace the world but just adds information to it. Although this does have its uses, no user will feel it is completely real. We can see this in the many different popular AR games that are available: people will enjoy them but not believe there really is a dinosaur walking by. This is partly because they are holding a device through which they are observing this fake world, usually a mobile phone or a tablet. If they look past the device they see nothing but the real world, which our bodies translate into it is fake.
