So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Running Programs
GNOME allows you to directly manipulate all the objects in the system, whether they are files containing documents to work on, programs that you run, or devices that you control. Probably the first thing you will want to do after you've started GNOME is run some applications.
Launching an Application
To launch a program, you can do any of the following:
Single-click a button on the Panel— Several useful programs are provided by default on the Panel. For example, the default Panel includes icons for the Help Browser, a virtual terminal emulator, the Control Center, Netscape, and a system updater, among other things.
