Using ksaferppp
Older versions of KDE included a utility to connect to an ISP called kppp. Unfortunately, for this utility to work for an ordinary user, kppp had to be suid root with permissions for the world to run it. This was a very poor security practice. So the KDE developers came up with ksaferppp, a safer way for users to be able to use ppp.
To configure ksaferppp, the root user must first configure the modem and Internet provider. If this was done during the initial install, it is not necessary to repeat the steps. Otherwise, the following paragraphs will walk you through setting up your modem and Internet provider.
