Preparation for NFS
The Linux kernel can be configured to permit or deny the use of NFS. In order for NFS operations to be permitted, they must be configured into the kernel. In the 2.4.x kernels, two parameters must be considered, and a third is optional. In the kernel configuration menu, select Filesystems, Network File Systems, and then you can select either or both of "NFS filesystem support" and "NFS server support." Both are available as modules or can be built in to the kernel. If you select server support, you also have the choice of selecting "Emulate SUN NFS server."
