It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Project: Familiarize Yourself
Depending on which of the particular distributions highlighted in this book you've chosen to install, familiarize yourself with them. Your system will remain unharmed if you don't make and save changes.
You might also want to install a distribution not specifically mentioned in this book, such as SuSE or another, and look at their particular system administration tool (SuSE's installation and administration tool is called YAST, Yet Another System Administration Tool).
After you've seen how these handle the system, take a look at the chapters in this book on DHCP (Chapter 23, "Using DHCP," ) or DNS (Chapter 26, "DNS and BIND," ) or any of the other services and note how they're all the same. That is, you have a /etc/dhcpd.conf ...
