I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Network Startup Under Red Hat
When Red Hat starts up, it does not load all the modules necessary, instead depending on the kernel module loader to load the required moduels on demand—at least those for the Network.
Instead, starting from runlevel 2–5, a link from the /etc/rc.d/rc.d/ directory to /etc/rc.d/init.d/network script forces loading of the NIC module when the network starts.
Red Hat, like Caldera, uses information saved in the /etc/sysconfig/ directory, specifically the networking file and network-scripts/ifcfg- files to determine what to start and how to configure it.
