It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Getting Started
Setting up a secure WAN is like setting up any other WAN, but it provides better security for confidential data. The only difference between setting up a secure WAN with FreeS/ WAN and setting one up with routing tables is that you need to build a modified kernel and then configure the software. The additional work pays off with added security.
The FreeS/WAN (Free Secure/Wide Area Network) package allows you to build encrypted tunnels between any two or more LANs (or between any two systems or between a system and a LAN)to create a secure WAN.
