I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
New DHCP Clients
When a new DHCP client enters a network, it sends out a DHCPDISCOVER message. This broadcast message is an attempt to locate DHCP servers on the subnet, or to locate a DHCP relay that is connected to the subnet.
All DHCP servers respond to DHCPDISCOVER messages with DHCPOFFER. The DHCP client looks at the DHCPOFFER messages in the order in which they arrive. The first response is examined. The client has two options: Send a DHCPREQUEST message or send a DHCPDECLINE message.
If a client believes that a parameter it received in a DHCPOFFER is incorrect (the network address is on the wrong subnet, for example), it sends a DHCPDECLINE and continues to the next DHCPOFFER. If all DHCPOFFERs are declined, it rebroadcasts a DHCPDISCOVER ...
