James Kouzes and Barry Posner have spent more than twenty-five years on the study and research of leadership. They began their work with a survey, the Leadership Practices Inventory, that asked people to select from a list of common characteristics of leaders, rate their experiences of being led by others, and identify the seven top things they look for and appreciate in a leader.
