So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Hardware versus software RAID (4.2.2)
When it comes to implementing RAID, there are two types of RAID:
- Hardware RAID: This is an expensive solution and requires configuration prior to installing the OS. It is an electronic board that either the manufacturer of your server or yourself will plug into an adequate slot on the server's motherboard.
- Software RAID: This is a cheaper solution and is configured after the installation of an OS. It is an application that you will end up buying from a specific vendor.
