The Basic Input/Output System (BIOS), is a program that controls the functionality of the server hardware components. Along with the task of controlling the functionality of the server hardware components, the other important tasks of the BIOS are to identify and configure the hardware in a server and to identify the boot devices. Unlike computers in the past, modern computers do not have legacy BIOS; instead, they are equipped with a Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI). Unlike the BIOS, UEFI is easily updated by downloading updates from the manufacturer's website, supports 32-bit and 64-bit modes, and boots from disks with capacities far larger than the BIOS.
