In the Hard Disk Drive (HDD) section of Chapter 8, Storing Data in Windows Server, tracks and sectors are mentioned. Tracks look like concentric circles and there are thousands of them on a disk. Sectors are the tracks' divisions and their size depends on the file system that the server's OS uses. I guess, you now understand what a boot sector is (see Figure 10.2). Obviously, it is the sector on a server's disk that contains the information to boot your server. Physically, the boot sector is located in the first sector of the first disk track. Usually, a boot sector contains the MBR.
