It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Network interfaces (5.1.4)
Servers usually have more than one network interface (see Figure 9.4). If they do not, then you have to consider adding network interface cards (NICs) to your server. That approach offers tremendous benefits. Some are as follows:
- NIC teaming: This enables you to increase bandwidth from/to the server
- Network load balancing (NLB): This enables you to distribute the network load across servers
- Network separation: This enables you to separate intranet traffic from internet traffic
