A Tree in an AD structure is comprised of one or more domains. Domains in a tree are linked through a transitive trust. In a transitive trust, if A trusts B, and B trusts C, then A trusts C. That said, in a tree domain when a new domain joins an existing tree, then the new domain automatically trusts all existing domains in the tree. Similar to adding a domain, the tree domain is configured during the Promote this server to a domain controller process as in Figure 4.7:
