In AD DS, there is a trust relationship between a workstation and domain, and a trust relationship between domains. That said, after a computer joins a domain, the Security Account Manager (SAM) in the local computer trusts AD DS's authentication mechanism. Thus, the user is authenticated by a domain in a network, and not by the local SAM. Similarly, the authentication mechanism for each tree domain trusts the authentication mechanism for other trusted tree domains within a forest. Thus, if a user is authenticated by ITBooks.local, its authentication is accepted by BusinessBooks.local and ScienceBooks.local because these tree domains are part of the forest's root domain PacktBiz.local.
