We already discussed proximity in the preceding chapter, Chapter 6, Designing Behavior, when we explained in detail the importance of psychology on UX and, especially, the Gestalt law. Proximity is an important part of design principles because it helps us to create an organized visual design.
Proximity deals mostly with grouping similar elements of design together and creating a relationship between those elements of design. When we deal with proximity, always provide a focal point for the user so that they know where our design starts and ends.
Proximity does not always means that we place the elements of design together, but provide some visual connections between them.
