Data migration

You learned that there is no code upgrade path from AX 2009 or older AX versions but the good news is that there is a tool available that can help you migrate your data to the latest version of Dynamics 365 for Operations. 

The migration tool includes following types:

  • Configuration and setup: Ledger, customer groups, vendor groups, and so on
  • Master data: Customer, vendor, project, accounts, and so on
  • Opening balances: Ledger balances, inventory on hand, prices, and so on 
  • Open documents: Open sales order, Open purchase order, AR, AP invoices, and so on
  • System configuration: number sequences, users, user groups, security, and so on
  • Anything that is entity (historical transactions data is not recommended)
