Upgrade versus reimplementation
Sometimes, it might be better to plan a fresh implementation of the latest version than upgrading from the old version. The following are the scenarios where reimplementation can be a better approach rather than upgrade:
- If there is no direct upgrade path available. For example, for a customer using Dynamics AX 2009 or 4.0, there are no tools available to directly upgrade his code or data to Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations; rather, he has to reimplement his customization in the new version.
