While the whole world is embracing cloud and digitization, it is important to have the power of choice for your business platform. This is due to one abstract thing change to which organizations constantly evolve and adapt to market situations.
In the prior version of Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, Enterprise edition, customers only had one choice--Cloud through Microsoft public Cloud (Azure). The earlier versions of Dynamics AX (viz. 2012, 2009, 4.0, 3.0) were all client-server architecture with some web footprint. Though there were limited choices on the ERP architecture, customers and partners leverage other technologies to enable more choices to suit the business needs.
