RELATIONSHIP TO H.323
The relationship of MGCP to H.323 is shown in Figure 9-10. Be aware that MGCP does not have to be a part of H.323, but if it is, the MGCP Call Agent acts as an H.323 Gatekeeper. This approach is in keeping with the functions of the H.323 Gatekeeper, who provides address translation and call control services to H.323 endpoints.
