Very soon, the issues surrounding VoFR, VoATM, and VoIP will be decided by the marketplace. With the notable success of Frame Relay, and its presence in the marketplace, the technology will be a force for some time. If ATM continues its rapid (and recent) growth, it to will not be dislodged easily. For the foreseeable future, it is likely that these technologies will coexist. The deciding factors will be the acceptance of IP-based/packet-based protocols such as MGCP, H.323, IPS7, as well as Layer-3 Switching.
