MESSAGES AND Q.931 MAPPINGS
The messages exchanged between the SG and the RAS are used to support call processing, and administration, operations, and maintenance (OAM) operations. The call-processing messages are based on Q.931 and use this protocol's rules pertaining to the message contents (information elements and their coding). Other new messages are defined as well. All RSGP messages are listed in Table 10-1 with a brief description of their functions. The first thirteen messages in the table are derived from Q.931; the remainder are new RSGP messages.
